FMS101  Express Eastern Elegance

Playing along with Freshly Made Sketches www.freshlymadesketches.blogspot.com
Very easy layout and I needed more birthday cards so easy to decide the theme.  When looking through DSP, I saw that I have not touched this pack of Eastern Elegance DSP but so wanted to play with it. Colors came quick and I already had the layout so again...it was a quick cards! I like those kind!

Have a great weekend!

I Miss You!

I finally got to play with my new Envelope Punch Board that will be available for purchase on September 1st.

I made this card this summer using the Sunburst Technique with some retired DSP.  I was planning to mail this card to my daughter Amanda so I thought it was about time to use my new tool to make one to match!  We moved my daughter into her new room on campus last Friday and it has been an emotional week and the good bye was hard!  I love that I can send her cards I have made and she will think the matching envie is too cool!
You can make over 60 sizes of envelopes to fit all kinds of cards.  Especially nice for odd shape cards that it is hard to find an envelope for or they become expense it in special sizes.
Happy Friday!
Thanks for stopping by!

Hello Bicycle

I wanted to play with the new stamp I received in the August Paper Pumpkin.  Very cute bicycle but it is also a great size.  I pictured it in motion like on my card but I could not decide what color.  I saw a scrap of Modern Medley laying on my desk and thought...yes, red bicycle and black with vanilla!   This is why I love the DSP...always a color combo waiting for me (and you)!
Have a great Thursday!

Hello There Butterflies

I love butterflies and I am always looking for cool ways to use my butterflies stamps and punches.  Last week my upline, Mary Fish at stampinpretty.com , gave us a great card using the trio of butterflies punched like on my card but she did not stop there!  She included a video with great tips on how to punch these out pretty even.  Mine were not perfect but I am ok with that.  I had scraps laying there from my 2013-2015 in color DSP in Pistachio Pudding and Crisp Cantaloupe so I grabbed Baked Brown Sugar and had a great card in no time!
Enjoy your day!

Cabana For You

Coastal Cabana is becoming one of my fav colors right now.  I would not have gone to it for a Christmas card but it is figured in SU!'s Holiday catalog with other blues like Island, Indigo and Pool Party.  So I have made several Christmas cards with some of those color combos and the new Festive Flurry stamp set.  But I do really like it with Black and White.  I am a black and white girl--love clothes and accessories in B & W-- as well as things are just black and white to me!
Anyway, I fell in love with the large stamp-Beautifully Baroque!  It was on my first order and I love it in Cabana!  I was inspired by a card Justin Krieger did earlier this summer with these stamp sets...enjoy!

Monday Inspiration

We all get our inspiration from somewhere.  I get them from other crafting blogs and card magazines.  As a SU! demo, I receive a Stampin' Success magazine every two months with great tips, techniques, inspirational stories, project ideas, etc.  I love when I see product used in ways I had not thought of.  As soon as I saw the treat holder on one of the pages, I knew I wanted to make it into a card sometime.  I had not planned to so soon but my upline, Mary Fish, gave us a challenge to make something new from an inspiration this weekend and I went right to this.  I makes it fast and virtually not thought goes into it when you have something to jump start your creativity!
Hope you are inspired today and looking at the world around you...color is everywhere but designs are too!
Have an inspirational Monday and thanks for stopping by!

FMS100  Truly Grateful

Inspired by Rita Wright's card on Freshly Made Sketches this week and wanted to make one with my Sweater Weather DSP, too.  I choose to not include a sentiment on the front so can use for any occasion this fall.  It is good to have a card in the stash for last minute use!

Hexagon Birthday

I made another card for one of my 9th grade girls in my Sunday School class.  There is one after another. I remember making this card a few months ago but in different colors.  I thought about it again after seeing the freshly made sketches this past week.  http://www.freshlymadesketches.blogspot.com/
I do love the six-sided sampler and hexagon punch!  I made this card in less than 10 minutes!

Truly Grateful for the new Thinlits Card Die

This is my first card with the new Thinlits Card Die.  I knew I wanted to use my fav DSP--Sweater Weather and can always store away another Thanksgiving card.    I used a 6x6 piece of card stock with the largest die to make the base.  I think I will use a 6 1/4" x 6" next time since it was right on the edge.  But the card is fun to decorate and I liked using an emboss folder on one side and DSP on the other side.
Happy Friday to you!  Thank you for stopping by!

PPA169 Challenge Christmas Greetings

I have enjoyed so far participating in the PPA challenge each week (just started about three weeks ago).   Layouts are hard for me.  I can do color combos all day long but coming up with a layout is not the most fun I have making a card!  The layout challenges then tend to be easier since I do not have to come up with them.  I already had this ornament set out to design my last card for my Christmas card classes next month.
The paper stack was laying there beside it so color was easy, too.
Hope you have a great Thursday and thanks for stopping by!

Playing with Snowflakes in Triple Time

I love the Festive Flurry set (and the matching dies, too)!  I thought of the triple time stamping technique when they first arrived.  This was the first card I made with that set.  I did use some dazzling diamonds on here for sparkle but it may not show up so well in the photo.  We will start Christmas cards next month in my card classes. I will share those next month.  I have one more card to design for Sept. class and then I need to increase my birthday card stash...lots of those coming soon!
Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful Wednesday!

Grunge Birthday

I love to play with the Gorgeous Grunge set...so many possibilities!   Today I started with the piece of Smoky Slate embossed with the Honeycomb folder I had laying on my craft table that I did not use on a project earlier last week.  My first thought was the Grunge set but not what colors to use.  I pulled out my Color Coach and it told me Smoky Slate looks great with Calypso Coral and Soft Sky.  I would not have thought of those colors with Slate!  I was making a birthday card for one of my many 9th grade girls in my Sunday School class and thought these were perfect colors for her!
Thanks for stopping by and have an awesome Tuesday!

My first Halloween card!

I know that title must sound funny.  I have been stamping for over 11 years and I am just making my first Halloween card?   I have never sat down to make one since I do not celebrate Halloween and therefore, do not send out any cards during that time of year.  I do love fall and going to fall carnivals and have no problems with a costume!  But a friend asked me to make one for her to send to her mom.  I knew right away what stamp set to use since the Wacky Wishes set (retired) had the Happy Halloween sentiment.  I also knew what paper to use since I did split some of the new Witches' Brew DSP with a friend.  I like the colors and several of the designs.  I was also blessed to see a post from my good friend Brian King a few days earlier where he used the bat cut out from the same DSP and placed on a yellow moon.  I totally copied that!  Thanks Brian!!!!!
Have a great Monday and thanks for stopping by!

Gobble Gobble Sunday

Again, I love working with the sweater weather DSP.  Such great colors and they all mixed together so well.  I also love matching stamps and dies like the Deco label framelit dies coordinate with the turkey stamp in the  Harvest of Thanks set.  This is one of several cards I made a friend to send to her mom this fall and for holidays.  I hope it puts a smile on both of their faces.
Have an awesome Sunday and thanks for stopping by!

Birthday Spinner Card

Another gift card holder and specialty card made at stamp club on Thursday night.  On the inside, I made a pocket by cut the base card stock at 5 1/2" x 12" and scored at 4 " and 8" and then cut a tiny sliver off one end.  I folded it up and glued the sides leaving a pocket for a gift card .  I then built the top of the card by punching with the word window punch across the bottom.  The happy birthday cupcake scallop circle spins across card when you move it with the use of two pennies.  The top of the card or card face is attached with stampin' dimensionals to raise it up for the spinner.  I cased this from a card like this on Shelli Gardner's blog www.soshelli.com.  She is the CEO/Co Founder of Stampin' Up!
If have time, check out her blog!
Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful weekend!

Owl of a gift card

We made some gift card holders at stamp club last night.  I will share the another one tomorrow but this cute owl is open on top to hold a gift card or could hold a small piece of candy/candy bar.  The card stock was cut at 2 3/4" x 9 1/2" and folded in half.  I ran it through my Big Shot with the fancy fan emboss folder and then punched the open end with the 2 1/2" circle punch. I saved what I punched for the wings. Glued the sides inside together to make pouch and then decorated the owl.  I did case this from a video but when I went back to get the name to give credit, I could not find it again.

Enjoy and thanks for stopping by!

Pals Paper Arts Sketch Challenge at www.palspaperarts.com

I had my Festive Flurry set out as I am prepping for my Christmas card classes in September.  When I saw the sketch, I knew right away what I wanted to do and even the colors...thanks to the DSP paper stacks in the new 2013 Holiday Catalog.  The only thing I had to decided between was rhinestones or pearls to accent.  I decided to go with pearls on this one.  Love how it turned out!
Happy Thursday and have fun with this challenge!

Grateful

As a Stampin' Up! Demo, I receive many resources for my business.  One I really enjoy is a magazine called Stampin' Success.  It has many projects and ideas for work shops and classes and techniques.  I saw a card I wanted to case from the magazine but changed it a little.  I ran the card stock through with the Woodgrain emboss folder and sponged some Chocolate chip ink over it.  I liked how the small round wood is used from the Truly Grateful set.  I would not have thought of it.  It also fits the 1 3/8" circle punch perfectly!  This card measures 4 1/4" square.
Have a happy Wednesday and thanks for stopping by!

Sunflowers in August

I really love sunflowers.  They are suppose to be a summer flower but I think of fall which is my fav time of year!  I will pull out my fall decor in a few weeks and there are several of my favorite decorations that have sunflowers!  For this card I used Crushed Curry to stamp the sunflower and then sponged Chocolate Chip in the center.  I added a few bees in Chocolate Chip, too.
Hope you have a terrific Tuesday!

Celebrate Punches and Dies!

I love that Stampin' Up! provides many punches and dies that match our stamp sets.  But sometimes you can use the punches and dies to layer together for a wonderful focal point on a project/card.  Here I punched the two sizes of butterflies, one in card stock and one with DSP.  I also used two different dies under the butterflies.
Have a wonderful Monday and thank you for stopping by!

Sweater Weather

The texture is so rich on this Designer Series Paper you would think it was fuzzy fury like a sweater!    It makes it easy when all your paper in a series just goes together and layers like this Sweater Weather DSP can.  I did color the stamp with markers and stamped on white card stock then cut it out with the matching die.
Have a great Sunday!

You make me happy in Black/Vanilla/Cherry!

I love black and white and wear a lot of it!  I do love this DSP in Black and Vanilla.  Lots of possibilities like adding a punch of Cherry Cobbler or mixing the prints together.  Polka dots always make me happy, too!

Truly Grateful for Friday

Love the Truly Grateful set and the Sweater Weather Designer Series Paper.  Lots of textures and doing either some light or darker sponging can give even more texture to the card.  The Tangerine Tango card stock is ran through the Big Shot with the square lattice folder and sponged in Chocolate Chip.  I colored the bundle with a blender pen in lots of colors: Crumb Cake, Crushed Curry, and Tangerine Tango and shadowed in Sahara Sand.
I really love to make fall cards.  I do not send many out until Thanksgiving and that is still just a few to family.
But it is hard not to play with this set and the DSP.
Enjoy your Friday and the weekend!

Color Challenge

Pals Paper Arts Color Challenge: Coastal Cabana, Crisp Cantaloupe, and Pistachio Pudding
I thought  about a card Pam Morgan showed us on stage at convention last month using the Gorgeous Grunge set and this butterfly die and thought it would be lovely in these colors!  I embossed in clear the "skid marks" from the set on the base of the card.  I used the Beautiful Butterflies Bigz die to cut the butterfly in white.  The middle part was a challenge for me since I did not want to use anything too thick like the clear facet buttons since I will mail this card out to my mom this week.  I then saw I had some In Color DSP scraps lying there in Cantaloupe so punched out 5 of them with the 7/8" scallop circle punch, crumbled them up, glued together and formed a flower.  Real easy!!! Then just added my simple hello at the bottom from A Dozen Thoughts set.
Hope you enjoy and thanks for stopping by today!

Perfect Blend

I am not a coffee drinker.  I sometimes will get a iced white chocolate mocha and then I am wired all day.  Not a big caffeine person.  But I really like the Perfect Blend set and have enjoyed either coloring the cup by watercolor or cutting out Designer Print paper.  The cozy for the middle of the cup above was stamped in black on Crumb cake card stock and then cut out and place on cup that was stamp in black on watercolor paper and then colored with watercolor pen using Crisp Cantaloupe ink.  I hope my guest will like this at card class this week!

Crafting together

My daughter Amanda (pictured above) is very gifted in many arts.  She is an incredible writer and will leave for college soon to pursue her education to become an editor.  She loves to draw and paint and is really skilled at facial features.  ( I draw stick figures)  She also likes to sit and paper craft with me occasionally and as she preps for college life, she has decided to decorate some of her desk items. But this week she thought that she needed to have some cards on hand when she leaves to send to others.  So she sat down and went through my supplies and started creating!  She made these three cards right away and I love them!!!
I know she can be/do anything she wants!  So proud of her!
Have a wonderful weekend!
